TimeShift Preview: Conclusion and Game Summary

TimeShift is linear game not more different in this respect then the rest of FPS games. However, the player does not have a name. Originally (when the game was conceived by Atari), the protagonist was named Michael. Later, Saber removed the name. In their opinion this could make the player feel more immersed in the role. While my opinion, the immersion is more dependent on the good script, and well designed graphics and physic engines.

The official trailer is made from pre-rendered images. The rain's quality here is much better then the one in game itself. This is good analogy for TimeShift – a lot of promise with not-so-great result in the end.

Pros

  • the people and objects move and operate realistically
  • the textures are based on the physical characteristics of real objects
  • light and shadow effects are accurate

Cons

  • boring missions
  • uniformity in the appearance of the objects
  • impossibility for an interaction with most of objects
