F.E.A.R. Review: Second Mission

Paxton Fettel managed to elude F.E.A.R. operatives in Auburn, and his tracking signal was subsequently lost. In the meantime, Hannibal-3 spy satellite has photographed sizable Replica force in vicinity of South River Wastewater Treatment Plant.

For that reason F.E.A.R. combat operatives will attach to responding Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (SFOD-D) troops to reconn the area for the purposes of recommending military response. Teams should not engage the enemy unless fired upon. F.E.A.R. technical officer, Jin Sun-Kwon is somewhere in Auburn to conduct forensic investigation.

The player receives his first more effective weapon: RPL Sub-Machinegun with 50 patrons into a filler.

The bullet holes in the wall disappear relatively quickly. You can shoot at the fire-extinguishers and they will burst with big bang. Actually, this is a good way to take down few enemy solders at once.

One of the more unusual objects is called Reflex Booster. It speeds up the player reflexes, which is represented as slow-motion in the game. This is a very useful when you encounter a lot of soldiers at once or when some creature moves too quickly to be killed in the ordinary fashion. Of course, it works only for a limited time.

It good thing that the game has quick save option as the action heats up and sometimes you are killed just seconds after the game begins.

The enemies A.I. is relatively good. If you remain in one place for some time, they can blow you up with a grenade or surround you. They also take cover when you are shooting at them. It's interesting that the enemy soldiers can put a table or desk between themselves and your bullets. As a whole the enemies are predictable and and when the game is reloaded again from the same save point, they behave exactly as before.

There are are phones on the desks with blinking red light that contain audio messages. Some of them are insignificant but others are important for the mission accomplishment. F.E.A.R is a little bit hard to play – even in Low Difficulty level the player can dead easily.
