Crysis Preview: Nanosuits and others

In the plane on his way to Lingshan Islands, the player receives his orders: along with the rest of the Raptor team to find out what is going on with Dr. Rosenthal and the team of four U.S. archaeologists.

All members of the rescue team are equipped with special futuristic suits called modular tactical exoskeleton. These are one of the big surprises in the game. Ever nanosuit is possessing few advanced capabilities but they must be used one at a time. Those options are:

  • Maximum strength: it can be used to make high and long jumps. You can also throw objects (including grenades) at longer distances or hit the enemy solders with greater strength in hand-to-hand combat.
  • Invisibility: fairly self-explanatory. Invisibility ceases when the player shoots his weapon.
  • Maximum speed: player runs very fast.
  • Maximum power: very strong shield. When you are under enemy fire, the shield level quickly decreases but it regenerates very fast when you find a cover.

The shadows and light effects in the game are very realistic. The result is the best looking game yet.

The sounds in Crysis are appropriately selected. There are crickets and birds in the woods, and when the enemies fall on the ground under the rain of bullets, they also make realistic sounds. The throwing of objects also is accompanied with the right sound characteristic at their fall. Is System Settings the player can choose the kind of voice his suit will have.

There are some cinematics done also from first-person point of view, which flow seamlessly in the gameplay and does not annoy or distract from the action. The levels are very big (well there is one level in the demo but it IS very big).
